The Dog Bar has been a tradition in Cuchara for many, many years. Formerly known as the Boardwalk Saloon, The Dog Bar was christened with its very unique name when it was discovered that the number of canines outnumbered their human counterparts in the bar. When the decision was made to add a kitchen and restaurant service nearly ten years ago, the dogs suddenly found themselves forced outside to the outdoor deck! We couldn't believe it either... But still, the name stuck. Your well behaved canine friends are always welcome to join in as you enjoy lunch or dinner outdoors under our brilliant Colorado skies.

We will soon be entering our third year of owning the Dog Bar and Grill and the Shops on the Boardwalk in Cuchara. We have been overwhelmed by the friendliness of the people who live here or have vacation homes in the area.  Many have been here for generations...

We think that speaks volumes about the kind of folks who make up this community.  No “hoity toity” people here – but the “salt of the earth” kind of folks.  People who work hard and come to this place to shed off the stress and enjoy precious time together with family and friends. We have been warmly welcomed and encouraged in a business that was brand new to us at the time.  And we thank all of you who have blessed us with your kind words and acts.

We are pleased to have a staff of excellent people, many of whom have been with us since the beginning, who are committed to making your time with us as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.  We couldn’t do it without them!

Our goal is to provide you with an excellent meal, exceptional service and a pleasant environment to help you unwind, relax and take in the glorious beauty that surrounds us: the Cuchara River, the Culebra Mountains and a sky so clear and blue it takes your breath away!

Shipping information

We offer two delivery options:

Priority Mail  --  3-4 business days

Priority Mail offers fast two day delivery of your package. All outgoing packages are processed and delivered to the Post Office in La Veta, Colorado, on the next business day following your order entry. Therefore, with priority mail, you can expect delivery within 3-4 days. If you place an order on a Monday, it will be processed and delivered to the Post Office on Tuesday. You should receive it by Thursday. Delivery times are NOT guaranteed by the Dog Bar Mercantile or the US Postal Service.

Express Mail -- 2-3 Days (Not available in all areas)

Express Mail offers fast Overnight delivery of your package to most addresses within the contiguous 48 States. All outgoing packages are processed and delivered to the Post Office in La Veta, Colorado, the day following your order entry. Therefore, with Express Mail, you can expect delivery within 2-3 days. Using the example above, if you order on a Monday, it will be processed and delivered to the Post Office on Tuesday. You should receive it by Wednesday. We will notify you if Express Mail is not available on your order.

You choose your shipping option at checkout. We reserve the right to ship by a different method that will meet your needs more efficiently. For larger orders, we might use specialized freight carriers at our discretion. We choose the most efficient and cost effective method depending on your address and situation. Doing this helps keep your shipping fee to a minimum. If you have a preference of shipper, please let us know. Shipments going to an APO address or PO Box must be shipped via US Mail.

If everything is in stock, orders are posted into our System in the morning following your order date, Monday through Friday and processed that same day.

Orders placed after 10am (Mountain Time) may be processed the following business day. Business days are Monday through Friday. This means that any order placed after 10am on Friday, may not be processed until Monday.

We will do our best to accommodate late orders and same day processing, but this is not guaranteed.

We are not responsible for shipping delays that are a result of credit card/billing problems, product availability delays, weather, or order changes made after the order has been placed.

Where do we ship?

Currently, we can only ship to addresses within the United States.

Returns and Exchanges

We want you to be completely satisfied with your Dog Bar Mercantile products. With just a few exceptions (see below), if you are not satisfied with your order you may return it within 30 days of your receipt of merchandise for a refund of the purchase price or exchange less shipping fees. We do ask you to pay to ship the item back to us, and any shipping fees originally paid on your order are non-refundable. Here are the exceptions and clarifications:

• Products must be returned to us in their original condition and in their original packaging complete with all tags, labels, instructions, and inserts.
• You may try on a garment or hat to check for fit, otherwise, returned items must NOT have been worn for any extended time.
• Items that have been washed, laundered or dry-cleaned are NOT eligible for return or refund.

To exchange a product or receive a refund:  

• Please send an email to us at Orders@dogbarmercantile.com to let us know you intend to return or exchange the item. Include your Order Number, your name, address and phone number in your email.
• You should have received a Returns Policy page with your order. We will also reply to your email with specific instructions on returning your item.
• Please include a copy of your original receipt with your return. This will enable us to identify your order and process your return more quickly.
• You are responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning your product. Original shipping fees are NOT refundable. If the return is due to an error on our part, i.e we sent the wrong size, or wrong color, then we will reimburse you for shipping the item back to us.
• Please make sure your return packaging is secure. We are not responsible if items are damaged in transit.
• Once we receive your return, please allow 1-2 weeks for processing.
• All returns and exchanges are subject to our Terms of Use. 

Ordering Online: Is your web site secure?

Shopping with your credit card with the Dog Bar Mercantile is guaranteed to be safe and secure. We take extensive steps to process Internet transactions securely and safely. Our secure server software (SSL) is the industry standard for securing credit card transactions over the Internet. This software encrypts all your personal information into an unrecognizable code that is securely transmitted from you to us. When this encrypted information reaches our secure server, we translate it back to its original form and store it safely offline and inaccessible through the Internet. To continue our commitment to your security, every credit card processed is run through an address verification process to verify that the card is registered to the billing address on the order. We are dedicated to providing you with a secure, worry-free shopping experience.

Can I order over the phone?

Absolutely!  If you have questions or simply want to talk with a real person, we understand it's sometimes easier to pick up the phone. Call us anytime Monday thru Friday between 9am and 5pm Mountain time. If you receive a voice mail message, we will return your call as soon as possible. Our number is: 719-742-3450.

Payment Options

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal as forms of payment. We will charge your card at the same time that we confirm  your order is shipping. You may see a temporary authorization that appears  as a charge on your account statement, but it is an authorization only and will usually go away after 24-48 hours. Any refunds will be applied to the same card used in the original transaction.

Confirmation of Orders and Tracking Status

You should receive a confirmation email within 10 minutes of placing your order.  If you have placed an order and have not received your confirmation Email, please check your "junk" mail folder. If it is not there within a reasonable time period, send us an email and we will help confirm your order. We will also send an email letting you know that your order has shipped.

Sales Tax

You will be charged Sales Tax on merchandise based upon the common County and State attributes that we share determined by the address where we are shipping the merchandise.  If we are shipping to a Colorado address, we are required by law to charge Colorado Sales Tax. (Currently 2.9%). If we are shipping to an address within our home county, Huerfano County, Colorado, we are required by law to charge an additional 1% Sales Tax for the county. No sales tax will be applied to orders shipped to addresses in other states. The Sales Tax is calculated and itemized during the online ordering process
